When RM first started working with me in September 2023, she had been trying to conceive for over a year and a half. She had been diagnosed with PCOS, wasn't ovulating on her own, and had very irregular periods. Her blood work also showed high testosterone levels, something common with PCOS.
Earlier that year, she had gone through four rounds of intrauterine insemination (IUI) at a fertility clinic, all without success. She was told the next step was IVF, but there was a two-year waitlist.
Together, we took a different approach.
We focused on getting her body into the best possible state for conception. We worked on improving gut health, correcting vitamin D deficiency, and stabilizing blood sugar levels. I guided her through a fertility-focused nutrition plan, recommended removing alcohol, and suggested supplements that support ovulation and hormone balance like myo-inositol, NAC, fish oils, probiotics, and a high-quality prenatal.
One interesting piece: her iron stores (ferritin) were much higher than optimal, so I recommended she donate blood, which she did in August.
By our fifth appointment, just a month later, she had a positive pregnancy test, confirmed by the fertility clinic in October 2024. They continued to monitor her and kept her on progesterone for support.
At the time she conceived, she was taking her prenatal vitamins, fish oils, vitamin D, and myo-inositol, while still following the diet and lifestyle recommendations.
